NORTH CAROLINA THEATER STARGAZING VIDEO SERIES
During the COVID-19 pandemic, theatres nationwide were forced to close, including the North Carolina Theatre (NCT), which sought ways to maintain audience engagement despite the inability to stage live performances. Having completed a summer 2019 internship with NCT as a Public Relations and Marketing Intern, I was invited back in 2020 to assist with a new project aimed at connecting audiences to the theatre’s legacy while supporting fundraising efforts.
I produced the Stargazing Video Series, a five-episode project hosted by NCT’s Artistic Director, Eric Woodall. Each episode highlighted notable performers who had collaborated with the theatre over the years, ranging from veteran Broadway actors to local talent. In addition to producing and editing the video content, I designed promotional graphics and branding to support the series across social media and email campaigns, ensuring a cohesive and visually engaging presentation throughout the project.
The series featured over 15 performers and each episode reached more than 500 views on YouTube, generating additional engagement across social media platforms. The project successfully maintained audience interest during theatre closures and reinforced NCT’s reputation for high-quality, community-centered programming.
As a native of Raleigh, NC, I have long admired the productions offered by NCT, which attracts talent directly from New York City and operates a conservatory for young performers. My initial internship in 2019 allowed me to contribute to social media content, press materials, and promotional design while building relationships with production and management teams.
Returning in 2020 to produce the Stargazing series provided hands-on experience in videography, editing, and visual design, strengthening both my technical and strategic skills in creative communications while deepening my appreciation for theatre and storytelling.
