LIVE OAK COMMUNICATIONS - ELON'S STUDENT RUN AGENCY

Creative Leadership & Project Highlights
Live Oak Communications is a student-run agency at the Elon School of Communications, partnering with local clients to deliver a wide range of communication services, from multimedia campaigns to live event support. I began my tenure at Live Oak as a Creative Content Producer, advanced to Assistant Creative Director, and ultimately served as Creative Director during the 2020-21 academic year.
As Creative Director, I led a core team of 23 creatives while cross-collaborating with over 60 agency members to deliver high-impact, award-winning content. My responsibilities included overseeing production schedules, coordinating show flow, managing project timelines, and translating client and faculty objectives into clear, consistent, on-brand creative assets. Under my leadership, Live Oak earned multiple 2021 ADDY recognitions: Best in Show, Gold for Art Direction/Integrated Campaigns, Silver for Outdoor & Transit/Product Promotion, and Bronze for Magazine Advertising.

IMPACT & TAKEAWAYS
My time at Live Oak taught me how to lead large creative teams, manage complex projects, and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines. More than just campaigns, these projects reflect the ability to merge strategic thinking, visual design, and storytelling into results-driven communications that serve both clients and audiences.
Project Highlights
Live Oak Newsletter
I led production of the annual Live Oak Newsletter, distributed to donors, alumni, faculty, and business partners. This year-long project highlighted the agency’s accomplishments, reinforced relationships with key stakeholders, and supported fundraising initiatives for Live Oak and the Elon School of Communications. The final 2021 edition showcased both our creative range and strategic communication impact.
McPherson Print Campaign
Designed to establish a refreshed visual identity for McPherson Cleaners, this campaign ran in the Elon Pendulum and on social media during Elon family events. The ad emphasized reliability and community presence, contributing to the Fall 2021 Back to School campaign.
Art Direction & Integrated Campaigns
Throughout my tenure, I led or contributed to multiple client campaigns, including:
-
McPherson Cleaners “That Chair” Campaign – visually cohesive campaign across print and digital platforms.
-
Animal Hospital of Mebane “aHOME” Campaign – highlighting the client mission through creative storytelling.
-
AmeriCorps Seniors of Alamance County “Because of Your Age” Campaign – integrated messaging that connected audience engagement with social impact initiatives.
In these projects, I guided creative vision, ensured consistent branding, coordinated team members across roles, and maintained alignment with client goals. These experiences strengthened my skills in leadership, project management, and multi-platform content production while earning the agency national recognition through ADDY awards.
